The New Moon in Pisces at 8 am today on 1st March 2014 is a time of emptying yourself and quietly drawing in and receiving spiritual energy.  Pisces rules the vastness of the oceans, the dreaming world and the individual and collective consciousness.  The spiritual world of Pisces symbolises the immaterial, creative, watery, intuitive realms.

New moons are the monthly conjunction or meeting of the Sun and Moon, the two most important planets in astrology. Every conjunction gives the opportunity for a beginning of a new cycle; a ‘lunation’ is the name given to the conjoining of the Sun and Moon.

This new moon has a Chiron conjunction, which brings added energy to our wounds and our healing. You could consider this as an opportunity to emotionally, physically and spiritually detox, to make yourself empty of all the toxins, a healing crisis.  The world collectively is in the process of releasing and recycling the stored trauma of thousands of years.  If the body has to release toxins before it can heal, humanity also needs to follow a similar process.

So we are at a crossroads individually and collectively.  We have the opportunity to evolve our consciousness or destroy ourselves. With the ongoing, era-defining Uranus and Pluto saga, old outworn patterns are breaking up in sometimes sudden and violent ways, within us and around us. Pluto, who I see as a bear, tears up the patterns slowly with a tremendous power. Uranus acts to shatter the energies, like shattering the illusions that are holding these outworn patterns together.  The result is a transient chaos and discord.

Saturn and Pluto are in mutual reception, (each in the sign ruled by the other) which says that building new patterns is currently difficult. We must remember that building new patterns take time to form and be established.  Right now, the energy patterns in the sky allow for little constantly, it’s a time for things to be swept away.  In our impatience for change its helpful to remember that it takes time before new sustainable patterns can be established.  This Pisces new moon brings us deep subconscious change, no superficial changes will not wash now.

When we begin to access this Piscean world, we are entering into the deep, painful memories held within the individual and collective psyche.  The effect is like throwing a stone into a lake and seeing the sediment arise.  Detoxing has the same effect.   As we process our buried and shadow material, we begin to feel more whole, more connected to our divinity, but it takes time.  We as humanity have been throwing those stones in the lake for a while now and all of the dross is at the surface.

So this new moon could bring a mini break-through.  Our Chiron wounds feel opened up, but with this conjunction there is opportunity for healing.  There are strong trines with Jupiter which brings faith, optimism, honesty and cooperation, emphasising healing, rather than re-wounding.  Jupiter has been part of a powerful grand water trine with Neptune in Pisces and Saturn in Scorpio this year, again it’s an ongoing transit.  This flowing water trine suggests that deep patterns long held will take time to be worked through right now.  All this watery planetary energy suggests that feeling into life is what will help us right now.  Afterall, a fair chunk of the UK is knee deep in water.

I think we can expect some insight into what needs to shift and evolve but we are still waiting for the readiness, the right time, for things to permanently change. Our healing will certainly continue well into March.

Earlier in the week, Jupiter squared Uranus and this causes our anger to erupt or release very suddenly, we might feel a strong impulse to free from restrictions, limitations and controls.  On a world level, we are already seeing this in the Ukraine and Venezuela.  With Mars turning retrograde a few hours after this new moon and squaring Venus, relationships of a personal nature are in the spot light.  The wounds that need tending here are on a relationship level and very much connected to our resentment and buried, repressed anger.  With mars retrograding in Libra, it is our relationships that we are reviewing and rethinking.

More relationship themes are highlighted with Juno (partnerships and marriage) making a challenging, crisis orientated inconjunct to the north node in Libra (our relationship destiny).  Both Juno and the north node are at the zenith 29 degrees which implies some sort of culmination or crisis.  Partnerships feel the tension now and to satisfy this energy we need to make adjustments.  Pisces though, has no boundaries, so it might be hard work to see what’s yours and what’s not yours.  You might feel more entangled in the soup right now, perhaps you are noticing the co-dependent qualities of your relationships and how this dependence keeps you both from growing. But this Pisces new moon brings a time for new growth, so use this opportunity to identify what needs to change and plant the seeds.  Incidentally also we have the end of Mercury retrograde over these last two days which is a blessing but could have created a few intensified communication issues.  We will be swimming a little easier from now on in this area from now onwards.
