At 11.02 am BST on 20th June 2016 we have a Full Moon in Sagittarius. This is the second Full Moon in Sagittarius, since May’s full moon was at 1 degree Sagittarius and this one is at 29 degrees, right at the end of the sign. This is a rare event, occurring last in 2013.

Gemini, opposite Sagittarius, deals with information, perceptions and communication. While Sagittarius is about truth and answers. This Full Moon asks us to look at how we are walking our talk. We might appear like we have all the knowledge, understanding and wisdom, but are we just kidding ourselves? How embodied is our knowledge?  Do we incorporate the essence of what it means to deeply love into what we think we love?  How dedicated and able are we to the path of taking care of all sides and perspectives?

The ruling planet of Gemini is Mercury and it’s Mercury that occupies the empty leg of the ongoing T-square of Saturn, Jupiter and Neptune discussed in this month’s earlier.

Jupiter, which is Sagittarius’ ruling planet, forms a conjunction with the North Node in Virgo supporting us to be focused, disciplined and discerning with how we expend our energy. Staying focused on what really matters now will support us to work with these energies, rather than getting distracted and drawn into the peripheral.  It also helps us stand for and ask for what we really need to feel supported in and of itself.

Mercury, planet of communication is in Gemini and is a part of the T-Square with Saturn, Neptune and Jupiter at this Full Moon. Mercury is feeling the pressure.  There’s no doubt about it, our communication in the world is under strain. It’s also becoming increasingly obvious that how and what we communicate is not always useful or helpful.

Mercury squares Jupiter and Neptune can be quite distracting, self-avoiding, over thinking, dreaming, losing our point, getting waylaid. With Saturn opposing Mercury there’s a focus on goals and the meaning of what we are driving towards. Saturn, if worked with, ensures that Mercury is focused and realistic when he wanders too far off with all the possibilities.

How we show up right now, amidst all the chaos, now might be on our minds and in our hearts. While it is our responsibility as part of the world’s community to not shirk away from discord but face and confront it, especially within ourselves, it’s how we do that, how we meet it and the energy or essence we bring to it that ultimately counts and decides the outcome. We are being brought face to face with the impact of hatred. Much of this hatred is spawned by political extremism, fuelled by a climate where mainstream politicians speak in divisive language which of course is further magnified by the media.

There is a temptation to get polarised through our engagement, it’s not easy to stay connected to the deeper democracy that resides at a soul level within. Being present with ourselves now is an act of solidarity and an opportunity to notice what is truly unfolding at a deeper level of reality.

Where do we contribute to the suffering in this world? We might think no where, but all the layers of our own intolerance, prejudice and even hate are there within us, sometimes hidden from view, even from ourselves, and this has no choice but to be out pictured in our reality.

The way we participate and engage with the chaos in our world is important. Perhaps there’s a big part of us that wants to retreat and not engage with this insanity. But we need to support the part of us that says no to taking sides, but strive for a deeper understanding of all sides of the mayhem.  It doesn’t always mean we need to disappear, although often we have no other means at our disposal to address what we see.

The Divine Mother loves it all, she holds compassion for all of it, there’s nothing that she rejects. Embracing this and seeing beyond what’s on the surface or at least inviting a new perspective, to move us out of our narrow minded focus of what we think we know to be right or true is one way out of this quagmire.

Perhaps this Full Moon in Sagittarius can bring a glimmer of hope within the darkness. But this glimmer of hope needs to be located within ourselves as seeing where the darkness is within and gently acknowledging, holding and nurturing that wounded spot. Lets also hold the altar for an emerging new world, that is still being born, somewhat painfully.

Chiron at this Full Moon is that pain, he is active in a very tight and challenging square aspect to the Moon. We might not feel incredibly supported right now. We might feel like we have to ask or demand support, like we are not being seen in our struggles and woundedness. The frustration is building. But if we can just have trust in the process and stand our ground, remember to listen to our bodies truth, then the times of struggle will over time metamorphosis into times of ease.  It’s not an easy energy to integrate, so get connected into that centre within and let that bring the peace and balance.
