We have a Full Moon in Taurus at 2°46′ on 26 October at 4:12 AM GMT. As always, Full Moons bring what has been emerging into full view.

The Scorpio–Taurus axis concerns the relationship between life occurring beneath the surface and what is tangible and material. Scorpio represents the process of transformation; Taurus is like the blacksmith, how we bring that into physical existence and foster its further growth.

We’ve been in the thick of Venus and now Mercury retrograde. These are deep, internal, revisiting processes, and at the apex of this Full Moon we are about to start our return.

One of the interesting things about revisiting the past is that, years later, we can suddenly make sense of what we couldn’t see at the time, when we didn’t yet have the experience or perspective to understand what was happening.

With the Sun having just met retrograde Venus in Scorpio, we may find ourselves reconsidering what we once valued, wanted or believed would make us happy. Whatever we were desperate to have, whether a vocation, person, place or experience, may have loosened its grip, while what we barely appreciated at the time might now feel enormously valuable.

Notice also how your feelings might be shifting from that inwardness towards the outer world, and notice what is in your subtle awareness, catching your attention and whispering life back into you.

What’s super interesting about this Full Moon is that the Moon, exalted in Taurus, is also at its exaltation degree of 3° Taurus. It’s the zodiac degree where the Moon is considered especially dignified, where Taurus’ stability and nourishment allow the Moon’s instinctive, protective and life-sustaining qualities to find their fullest expression.

This is one of the strongest possible positions for the Moon, fully illuminated and occupying a degree of essential dignity, so the Moon’s natural qualities of protecting, receiving and connecting to life are emphasised. Yet this Taurus Full Moon is ruled by Venus, which is still retrograde in Libra, so this return may begin to stir more than realise or before we know where it’s taking us.

While the Moon is exceptionally strong here, it is also under considerable pressure from Pluto. The Sun-Moon axis is receiving an applying and exceptionally tight square from Pluto at 3°05′ Aquarius. So three of the four fixed signs are involved, and uncomfortably so. Scorpio, Taurus and Aquarius preserve, consolidate and sustain life. Their perseverance is both their greatest strength and their greatest weakness.

This T-square creates pressure for change, but we don’t necessarily have to see this in the usual way, as a challenge to established, familiar patterns. That pressure can become creatively productive. Try instead to see this as a time where the energy we use to keep things going, now becomes freed and available for something else.

With Pluto in Aquarius, some of that energy may also be tied up in meeting collective expectations, rather than following our own way of thinking, creating and contributing.

Pluto is also sextile Neptune in Aries and trine Uranus in Gemini, while Uranus and Neptune are sextile one another. Alongside the pressure, this opens up room for inspiration and for trying new ways of thinking and living, so the same Pluto that challenges the Full Moon also links it to the possibility of renewal.

The Scorpio Sun also forms quincunxes to Neptune in Aries and Uranus in Gemini. Because Neptune and Uranus are sextile to one another, this creates a Yod with the Sun at its apex, and the Taurus Moon sits directly opposite that apex point. A Yod asks for adjustment, so the way forward suggests less trying harder and more experimenting with new approaches and letting in possibilities we haven’t considered before. This is what we need to open to.

The Moon’s strength here lies is also less about resistance to Pluto’s force, and in its capacity to stay nourished by life. As Pluto’s changes unfold, this is where its instinctive nature might actually help us. If we stay awake to what moves us and where our Spirit, animating our senses and body, wants to take us, we can unlock a creative direction at this time.

I can’t lie, though: this Full Moon on the Scorpio–Taurus axis could mark the peak of a profound encounter with endings, impermanence and the limits of our control. Its exaltation doesn’t remove this potential obstacle, but it does suggest that the Moon has the inherent resources for meeting that challenge.

The exalted Taurus Moon brings us back to the beauty of living through our senses, our body, nature and the simple experience of being alive. If we are moving through a difficult or transformative experience, appreciating life through its simplicity can help. If we feel more conscious of life’s fragility, we can also feel its preciousness. Impermanence can make our love for life more immediate too.

This is important, as we are returning from a profound period of inner change, perhaps forced by outside factors, but potentially also just deep inner mining. Either way, it’s quite likely that this return now needs to involve the rediscovery of our natural capacity to enjoy, receive, feel, connect and participate in life. Rather than feeling a little dead and numb, as though the cold has seeped into our bones.

Even in the depths of winter, life is still there. It just might not be shouting in our faces quite so much. And any spiritual renewal that we need also needs to be embodied. It isn’t enough to understand change in our heads; we need to begin living it through our bodies.

Pluto stationed direct in Aquarius on 16 October and is still virtually stationary at this Full Moon, which activates its station degree. A planetary station concentrates attention on that planet’s themes, and as Pluto turns direct, our inward processing can begin to find outward expression. We might also see Plutonic themes of power, control and transformation playing out more visibly in the world.

This Taurus Moon degree opposes the degree of the 25 October 2022 solar eclipse at approximately 2° Scorpio. Whatever was emerging in your lives around then, or was difficult to make sense of at the time, might now make more sense. We can now properly integrate whatever that solar eclipse brought.

The August 2026 solar eclipse in Leo and the Virgo–Pisces lunar eclipse continue their significance in the background, particularly the Leo eclipse, because Mars and Jupiter now occupy Leo. Leo’s creative input is so important in our lives, especially approaching the Mars–Jupiter conjunction. Sometimes it’s also worth recognising that endings make room for important changes of direction.

This conjunction is the return of our creative fire. More about this later, as it’s not exact until mid-November, but its development is underway. It brings renewed enthusiasm for life after so much deeper reconsideration, and we might feel that surge of confidence again. Creative projects, physical activity, new ventures: it’s a very out-in-the-world sort of energy, very enthusiastic, so just make sure your enthusiasm is for the right things.

While Mars and Jupiter are building momentum in Leo, we are being pulled back. Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are now all retrograde, so our lives do have a strong focus on reflection and revision. I don’t see these as necessarily contradictory processes, although some might feel confused at this time. Inner reconsideration and outer participation often occur together, and this is especially true now.

The challenge may be to recognise what is still under development and what is ready for a more practical implementation. And let’s try to remember that we do not need to be totally clear, certain or resolved on a matter to engage creatively with life again.

Mercury stationed retrograde in Scorpio on 24 October at 20°59′ just before this Full Moon, inviting us to look deeper beneath the surface. Scorpio always wants truth and honesty. On 30 October it squares Mars, sharpening our thinking and speech, but also our impatience. Rather than using that energy to defend an old position, direct it into honest writing, deep research or developing new ideas further.

Then, as Mercury meets the Sun for its inferior conjunction in Scorpio on 4 November, new ideas, thinking and communication begin to emerge, allowing us to see an old problem, person or experience in a completely different light. This is part of our return to the upper world, following Venus.

We don’t always recognise the value of what came into our lives until much later, sometimes long after it has gone. Some of what we remember from the past may simply ask to be appreciated for what it gave us, and for how much of it is still living through us.

There’s also mutual reception between the Sun in Scorpio and Mars in Leo. The Sun occupies Mars’ sign, while Mars occupies the Sun’s. Mercury in Scorpio is also ruled by Mars, so there’s a strong connection between all this inward searching and reconsideration of Mercury and Venus, and the growing desire to express it outwardly.

Leo comes into focus in another way too. The missing fourth point of this fixed T-square, which would complete a Grand Cross, falls in Leo, where Mars and Jupiter are gathering, suggesting the outlet for the tension is again creative.

And again, Leo brings us back to the creative heart, to joy, play, courage, spontaneity and the freedom to express ourselves, especially through the body and spirit. Follow your joy, your inner child and rediscover the simple pleasure of expressing ourselves. We might also want to do more of this in the company of others, reconnecting through what we enjoy and bringing what is ours to offer into the wider world.

Venus retrograde in your 7th house encourages a review of agreements and expectations within relationships. With Saturn, Neptune and Chiron in your 1st house, there are also deeper questions about who you are becoming. Meanwhile, Mars, your ruler, approaches Jupiter in your 5th house of creativity and pleasure. There is considerable energy available, but the question is whether you direct it towards something meaningful or expend it maintaining old struggles.

TAURUS — Sun + Rising

With the Full Moon in your 1st house of identity and personal needs, opposing the Scorpio Sun and Mercury retrograde in your 7th house of relationships, something important about how you understand yourself through others may come into focus. You could become more conscious of what you need from a relationship, or recognise how another person’s expectations have shaped your choices. Pluto in your 10th house adds pressure from career, authority figures or established responsibilities. Venus, your ruler, is retrograde in your 6th house, encouraging you to reconsider how much of yourself is consumed by daily obligations. With Mars and Jupiter in your 4th house, home and family matters may also demand attention. The challenge is to recognise your own needs without making them dependent upon another person’s response.

GEMINI — Sun + Rising

The Taurus Full Moon occupies your 12th house of solitude, rest and the unconscious, opposing the Scorpio Sun and Mercury retrograde in your 6th house of work, health and daily responsibilities. You may be discovering the extent to which constant activity has prevented you from recognising your own needs. Pluto in your 9th house challenges established beliefs, including assumptions about what makes a life worthwhile or productive. Meanwhile, Uranus retrograde in your 1st house may create restlessness, while Mars and Jupiter in your 3rd keep your mind exceptionally busy. Venus retrograde in your 5th house offers another direction through creativity, pleasure and activities that serve no practical purpose. This fortnight is an opportunity to simplify your life and reconsider what genuinely deserves your energy.

CANCER — Sun + Rising

The Full Moon illuminates your 11th house of friendships, community and future aspirations, opposing the Scorpio Sun and Mercury retrograde in your 5th house of creativity, pleasure and romance. There may be questions about how much space you give to your own enjoyment alongside the expectations of others. An old friendship, romantic involvement or creative interest could also invite reconsideration. Pluto in your 8th house brings attention to shared resources, emotional dependence and the obligations that arise through close relationships. With Mars and Jupiter in your 2nd house, financial activity may be increasing, although caution is needed where enthusiasm encourages unnecessary expenditure. Venus retrograde in your 4th house draws you back towards your emotional foundations. Consider which relationships genuinely nourish your life and which have become responsibilities you no longer question.

LEO — Sun + Rising

Mars and Jupiter in your 1st house of identity and personal direction give you considerable momentum, but the Full Moon asks you to consider where that energy is taking you. The Taurus Moon illuminates your 10th house of career and public responsibilities, opposing the Scorpio Sun and Mercury retrograde in your 4th house of home, family and emotional foundations. A professional development or important decision could bring competing needs into focus. Pluto in your 7th house adds another dimension, particularly where relationships have become entangled with questions of power, independence or control. Venus retrograde in your 3rd house encourages a reconsideration of how you communicate and listen. The issue is not simply how much you can achieve, but whether the life you are building can accommodate the people and experiences that matter to you.

VIRGO — Sun + Rising

Mercury, your ruler, is retrograde in Scorpio in your 3rd house of thinking, communication and everyday exchanges, opposing the Taurus Full Moon in your 9th house of beliefs, wisdom and wider understanding. You may be reconsidering an established viewpoint or finding that new information challenges an explanation you previously accepted. Pluto in your 6th house adds pressure through work, responsibilities or demands upon your time, making it difficult to see beyond immediate concerns. Negotiations, contracts or important conversations may require patience, particularly where someone else’s expectations are involved. Venus retrograde in your 2nd house also raises questions about the value you place upon your own time and abilities. With Mars and Jupiter in your 12th house, private reflection may be more productive than pushing for an immediate answer.

LIBRA — Sun + Rising

With Venus retrograde in your 1st house of identity, this is an especially personal period of reassessment. The Taurus Full Moon occupies your 8th house of intimacy, shared resources and emotional dependence, opposing the Scorpio Sun and Mercury retrograde in your 2nd house of money, personal values and self-worth. Questions of reciprocity may arise, particularly where financial or emotional responsibilities have become unequal. Pluto in your 5th house also challenges the freedom with which you express yourself, experience pleasure or pursue creative desires. Saturn and Neptune in your 7th house bring relationships into sharper consideration, including the difference between what you hope for and what is actually available. Mars and Jupiter in your 11th house offer support through friendship and community. The important question is whether your relationships allow both giving and receiving without either person losing themselves.

SCORPIO — Sun + Rising

The Scorpio Sun and Mercury retrograde occupy your 1st house of identity and self-understanding, opposing the Taurus Full Moon in your 7th house of relationships and partnership. This is a particularly revealing configuration, inviting you to examine the stories you tell yourself about who you are and how accurately they reflect your behaviour towards others. Pluto in your 4th house takes this questioning deeper into family conditioning and the emotional patterns through which your identity was originally formed. You may discover that something you consider an essential part of yourself began as a way of protecting yourself. Venus retrograde in your 12th house can bring unacknowledged feelings or past attachments into awareness, while Mars and Jupiter in your 10th house create considerable ambition and outward momentum. The challenge is to distinguish genuine self-understanding from an identity you have become accustomed to defending, particularly when another person’s experience contradicts your own.

SAGITTARIUS — Sun + Rising

The Scorpio Sun and Mercury retrograde occupy your 12th house of solitude, hidden matters and the unconscious, opposing the Taurus Full Moon in your 6th house of work, health and everyday responsibilities. You may feel caught between the demands of ordinary life and a growing need to withdraw or reconsider what is happening beneath the surface. Pluto in your 3rd house challenges habitual ways of thinking, particularly the explanations through which you attempt to make sense of difficult experiences. Saturn and Neptune retrograde in your 5th house may also be slowing a creative process or changing your relationship with pleasure. Meanwhile, Mars and Jupiter in your 9th house encourage exploration, study and a broader vision of life. Rest, reflection and simplicity could prove more valuable than another ambitious undertaking. Not every important development requires immediate outward action.

CAPRICORN — Sun + Rising

The Taurus Full Moon illuminates your 5th house of creativity, pleasure, romance and self-expression, opposing the Scorpio Sun and Mercury retrograde in your 11th house of friendships, groups and collective aspirations. You may be discovering how much of your energy has been directed towards responsibilities and shared ambitions, leaving comparatively little room for enjoyment. Mercury retrograde may also reveal something about the motivations or expectations of people within your circle. Pluto in your 2nd house raises deeper questions about financial security, personal values and what you are prepared to invest in. Mars and Jupiter in your 8th house add intensity to shared financial or emotional commitments, while Venus retrograde in your 10th house encourages a review of your professional direction. The Full Moon asks whether the life you are working so hard to maintain still leaves room for what brings you alive.

AQUARIUS — Sun + Rising

The Scorpio Sun and Mercury retrograde occupy your 10th house of career, vocation and public responsibilities, opposing the Taurus Full Moon in your 4th house of home, family and emotional foundations. Pluto, newly direct in your 1st house, is the focal point of this powerful T-square, bringing questions of identity, independence and personal authority into the foreground. You may be reconsidering whether an established professional role still reflects the person you are becoming. Mars and Jupiter in your 7th house place considerable energy into relationships and collaborations, although competing expectations could create tension. Venus retrograde in your 9th house also encourages you to revisit beliefs, aspirations or a direction you previously abandoned. The challenge is to make room for change without assuming that every difference of opinion requires a struggle for control.

PISCES — Sun + Rising

The Taurus Full Moon illuminates your 3rd house of communication, thinking and everyday experience, opposing the Scorpio Sun and Mercury retrograde in your 9th house of beliefs, philosophy and higher understanding. Something you encounter through conversation, study or ordinary experience may challenge a long-held assumption about yourself or the world. Pluto in your 12th house brings attention to underlying fears and patterns of thought that may have remained outside conscious awareness. Venus retrograde in your 8th house encourages a reconsideration of intimacy, trust and shared responsibilities, particularly where your needs have been overlooked. Saturn and Neptune in your 2nd house also ask for greater clarity around personal resources and security. With Mars and Jupiter in your 6th house, the demands of everyday life may be increasing. Allow what you are discovering to change how you live, rather than remaining an interesting idea.
