We have a new moon in Cancer on 16th July 2015 at 1.25 am GMT. There are a few personal planets in Cancer at this new moon, with the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Mars all within a few short degrees of each other. If your Sun sign is in Cancer you should be enjoying a fair amount of personal power right now and with Mars staying in your sign until 8th August it looks set to continue.
Mars and Mercury make a conjunction shortly after this new moon, which makes relating, communicating and expression at this lunation crucial if we are to manage the intensity of the Pluto contacts. Pluto makes some uncomfortable aspects to cuddly Mercury and Mars in Cancer. It might not be easy to hold yourself back with Mars energising Mercury, the planet of communication.
This energy is made less easy with the current Venus square Saturn, we might be feeling like we are not getting what we want from relationships or it could be that others might be feeling that about us. This energy does not make it difficult to resolve, but it will highlight issues. This aspect is ongoing, going in and out of phase until 5th August which signals this is a longer term time for re-evaluating our relationships. This strong emphasis on relationships over the next couple of months is amplified with the upcoming Venus retrograde beginning at the month’s end. With this its possible that relationships from the past will figure more strongly during this period, those relationships will either be reignited or brought to a close.
With Pluto enmeshed with this new moon and for the few days following – first with Mercury opposing Pluto and squaring Uranus on 16th July and Mars following on 25th we might be feeling overpowered. With Mercury and Mars in protective, soft, nurturing Cancer and heavy, intense Pluto in cool Capricorn bringing its transformative kick, our personal feeling is one of vulnerability. All this Pluto energy is going to exasperate our triggers and relationships as we attempt to manage our intense feeling (Cancer, Scorpio energy).
Pluto is giving us hard lessons in taking responsibility for our own emotions and behaviour. His task is to show us how we devolve power to the external forces – anything we see as ‘not us’ is a potential external force exerting its influence on us. We need to be mindful of how we judge / blame others when things don’t go as we plan over the next week. Pull back your projections and go deeper into the Cancer feeling realm to see where you are also part of that which disturbs you.
In short, what matters now is how we use language to communicate (Mercury) to assert Mars’ ideas of boundaries in the areas of feeling, self-love and mothering. Cancer is much more than self-love though, she is also the mother Goddess. The power, love and wisdom She holds encourages and invites us to take responsibility for our lives, to become the Divine Mother rather than replicate the life of our physical, biological Mothers. It’s easy to become our mothers, and we will do so if we don’t change the patterns, beliefs and stories held within our DNA. This is the larger plan of mother earth, to become the Divine mother, in fact it is our birth right.
The time is ripe to really hold those boundaries, boundaries that we need to have but find difficult to assert because we don’t quite value or love ourselves enough. Consider where, what or with whom you need to have these boundaries, do this loving thing for yourself and stick to it. It might be with your children or your own mother. Life feels so much better when we can say no when we really need to. To give fully with an authentic heart and feeling (Cancer), we must first learn to receive, this is the trickier bit, especially for women, so honour where this needs to happen. Listen to your feeling and do what you need to do for yourself.
