We have a New Moon in Pisces on 28 February 2025 at 00.44 GMT.

The momentum is building, and March stands as a crucial turning point. This month holds immense weight, setting the tone for much of the year ahead. We can expect major geopolitical shifts, some of which may have far-reaching consequences—potentially shaping the course of our lives in profound ways.

The significance of the current astrology is on par with the intensity and transformation seen in the astrological alignments of global wars. We are witnessing planetary configurations and returning configuration cycles that indicate massive global shifts—years of upheaval, and the reshaping of power structures and the geo political landscape.

Just as those past transits marked defining moments in history, the energy now suggests a period of profound geopolitical, economic, and societal change. The stakes are high, and the choices made during this time will likely ripple decades into the future, influencing the collective trajectory in ways we may not yet fully grasp.

As Mars retrograde comes to a close, and the turbulence of that period begins to subside, I have to be clear that by no means is the path now full of ease. While the challenges that the Mars retrograde exposed are now fully revealed, with Mars only recently direct the hard work begins in earnest to move things forward.

In many ways, we are still coming off the back of Mars retrograde and its affects will be with us for at least a couple of weeks to come. Most people are feeling a potent or at least lingering sense of exhaustion—the weight of the intense influence felt in the area of life that Mars has been occupying. It’s been in floating between two houses for months now, and it won’t be until mid June that it finally moves on from these two houses.

Now is the time to reclaim lost strength, regain control, and steady yourself in the wake of all that Mars has disrupted. But don’t be fooled—while Mars is now moving direct, its warrior nature remains strong. And with eclipse season on the horizon in March, the potential for tension, lingering problems and simmering issues could still reach a boiling point. It’s a time that demands our vigilance and resilience.

As Venus turns retrograde, she vanishes from view for three weeks, no longer visible to the naked eye. After shining at her brightest, she slows down and stations, entering a symbolic journey through the underworld—a deep descent, a dark night of the soul—before eventually reemerging on the other side, transformed.

The real question with Venus retrograde is: Is this truly what we desire, what brings joy, pleasure and harmony into our lives? Venus retrograde stirs reassessments, especially in friendships and personal connections, pulling you away from assumptions about what brings you joy and what feels familiar.

This process of questioning leads to either renewed clarity and confirmation or the realisation that it’s time to let go. Expect moments of discomfort and ambivalence along the way. It’s very typical that ex’s return in some guise or another, whether it’s a literal return or more a remembrance.

The main body of work is on relationships and finances, including also whatever house Venus is sojourning in your chart during this retrograde period. Separations can happen, sometimes acting more to finally cement the relationships into a stronger foundation.

March is a month of wondering, questioning and testing. Don’t force yourself into trying to make a decision before the retrograde period is over. We need these times, when we can’t be entirely clear in our lives, when we have wait to see how the cookie crumbles.

Around 21 March, when Venus is midway through her retrograde cycle, we are closer to perhaps what needs to happen, but until then it’s about dwelling in the space of uncertainty, allowing the questions to unfold without rushing toward resolution.

Mercury also goes retrograde on 15 March in Aries, creating a powerful overlap with Venus that only serves to deepen the themes of reflection and reassessment. With Mercury—planet of communication, thought, and perception—moving closely alongside Venus, the usual Venusian reevaluations of love, relationships, values, and pleasure become even more mentally charged.

Their combined effect amplifies the need to revisit the past, reconsider old dynamics, and sift through unresolved emotions with an eye for gaining some clarity amid the confusion. Expect echoes of unfinished conversations, past relationships resurfacing, and a heightened focus on how thoughts and feelings intertwine. The urge to revise and rethink is undeniable, making this a potent period for inner clarity before moving forward.

With both inner planets moving in reverse at the same time, we enter a phase of upheaval, hidden influences, and uncertainty, all unfolding beneath the eclipses’ shadow. This period can feel destabilising, with sudden shifts in direction and unexpected twists altering the course ahead.

Neptune’s presence looms heavily over this cycle, dissolving boundaries and making it difficult to distinguish fact from illusion. Adding to the complexity, both Mercury and Venus will station direct while closely tied to Neptune, deepening the sense of ambiguity and requiring patience as clarity is obscured. But that is in April, still though it means even by April, we don’t really know what’s happening, so March is definitely not a month of clear focus.

Mercury transiting Aries carries a fiery, direct, and impulsive energy—quick thinking, fast speech, and a bold, no-nonsense approach to communication. Aries, ruled by Mars, adds an assertive (sometimes aggressive) edge to Mercury’s usual style, making thoughts and words more action-driven, passionate, and even confrontational. Under the Neptune water wash, it’s only going to add to the problems.

To add more to this challenge, Mercury is widely square to Mars, adding an extra layer of tension. Squares create friction, and with Mercury in Aries already inclined to speak first and think later, this aspect can heighten impatience, misunderstandings, and verbal conflicts. There’s a risk of reacting too quickly, misinterpreting intentions, or being overly forceful in communication.

On the other hand, this can also be harnessed for sharp mental focus, cutting through indecision, and taking bold steps forward. We’d just better make sure we take care of what we hold dear and value. Ideas will spark quickly, debates intensify, and words hold power—but apply caution to avoid unnecessary conflict or impulsive decisions.

The challenge is to channel this energy constructively: to say what’s difficult without letting frustration or anger drive the conversation. Since comfort here is not on the table for March, there’s far too much happening in the lightening rod of Aries for that. All in confluence together, all interwoven, in the same space and at the same time.

Heads up on the eclipses this month, the first being on 13 March, at the Full Moon. More on that in the next post, but this one is quite charged since its during the quarterly contact between Sun and Saturn, who form a conjunction on 11-12 March. On the same day, retrograde Venus meets up with Mercury, also forming a conjunction, just before Mercury begins his Mercury phase.

The Saturn-Neptune conjunction is coming into sharper focus as the two planets draw nearer for their Summer hang out. A reckoning is approaching—a moment where illusions shatter or dissolve, and what once seemed solid may prove to be built on shifting sands, dissolving under its own weight. This energy will unfold uniquely in each of our lives, dismantling outdated structures and forcing a reassessment of long-held beliefs.

Mid month onwards is going to be a particularly intense period, so complete all important endeavours early in the month since unexpected factors will be emerging in our lives by mid month, particularly in the period in between the clients so 13-29 March. This first eclipse on 13 March is a Lunar eclipse, occurring on the south node of the Moon in Virgo.

The positive side of this upcoming eclipse is that it’s a time of letting go, and it should be easy to do so. Lunar eclipses, especially total ones like this, often mark powerful emotional endings, closures, and releases. The energy is already accumulating for it and could be revealed as soon as a week into March.

Moving from something to nothing can feel unsettling, even destructive—like a sudden vacuum where something once stood. This eclipse carries the energy of dissolution, clearing away what’s been clinging to its final moments. The challenge is in trusting the emptiness left behind, knowing it’s making space for something new to emerge.

The preview to this series of eclipses was in September 2024, with the last set. The Pisces-Virgo eclipse series continues to early 2027, so it’s an entirely new area of our chart highlighted. And there’s no avoiding it, March is a month of tectonic shifts and for many people and the world at large, and some of these shifts will be difficult to integrate.

I believe we’ll need to search for the silver lining amid the turbulence, as under this astrological climate, it won’t present itself in obvious or celebratory ways. It may take more effort to recognise. In many ways, it’s more helpful to see this as a beginning of the end of something way past its expiration date. For some there might be more gates to cross through, but at least you are getting there.

It is a time of strong initiations in aspects of life that are geared towards a quick maturation process—where events unfold rapidly, pushing us to grow, adapt, and step into new roles with little room for hesitation.

The coming energy of the equinox also fuels a turning point, a threshold where beginnings are not just symbolic but demand action. It’s a moment of balance, yet one that propels us forward, calling for our willingness to embrace transformation at an accelerated pace. Hold on to your hats as things pick up the pace.
