We have a New Moon in Aquarius on 28th January 2017 at 12.08 am GMT. This upcoming week brings a building pressure to relationships. At the start of the week, with a slow moving Mars – Juno square can bring up conflict with partners and Venus building to her annual conjunction with Chiron can bring up old painful wounds. We need to drop into trust, taking seriously and processing some of the arising issues. With Venus – Chiron, we might feel rejection, abandonment and old painful emotions from the past.
This relationship theme continues into Thursday with the Moon conjoining with Pluto, squaring Uranus and Jupiter – keep your awareness and feel in deeper. Later, on Friday, Venus squares Saturn, amplifying difficult emotions and how we think about ourselves and our relationships. This is going to be more challenging if you are a Taurean or a Libra as Venus is your ruling planet. Remember that you might not feel the love, but you ARE love, deep inside.
On the plus side, these challenging aspects might be supporting us to make difficult choices and bring in more awareness and actually deal with the issues that have been brooding in the background for some time. It’s a build up that is going to continue into March, April with Venus retrograde, so the issues you are working with now, with loving yourself and others, will likely need more work in March.
This Aquarius New Moon emphasises the need for greater awareness since Venus – Chiron is highlighted through a midpoint connection. What this means is that this is a time when we are more aware of what separates us from our partners and friends and less aware of what unites us. But new moons do not offer resolution or finality, they offer a beginning and so we can expect more information to follow before the next full moon next month. Now lets take an overview on the energies of 2017.
Jupiter will be in Libra until October 2017 where he moves into into Scorpio. This means relationships are very much on the table, and balancing our needs for independence with all the fire sign focus for the start of the year, with our needs for others. Jupiter wants to bring about a new level of cooperation and expansion in relationships and perhaps even a new, transformed way of being in relationships.
This is especially the case if you have a Libra Sun, or an Aries, Capricorn or Cancer – you will receive a special expansion from Jupiter, particularly if you are born near the middle to end of Libra. If you have personal planets in these signs also, expect a push in the area of that planet. The secret with Jupiter is to be prepared to embrace opportunities that arise and let go of what’s no longer working.
Saturn in Sagittarius all this year between 21 and 27 degrees will affect planets in mutable signs Gemini, Virgo and Pisces. Wherever Saturn is in or transiting our chart is where we are looking at teachings of contraction, restriction and limitation, and consolidation. Saturn transits are never easy, but the challenges encourage soul growth and bring us into a deeper grounding and maturity.
Uranus is journeying through Aries degrees 24 to 28. If you have personal planets at these degrees Aries, or you have them at any other cardinal sign Cancer, Capricorn or Libra then you need to get prepared for Uranus. Uranus in fact though is difficult to get prepared for. He likes to shock and surprise us. It’s hard to predict what Uranus brings, he’s quite likely to pull the rug out from underneath us. But he’s certainly going to bring about positive change if we are looking for liberation and independence. He wants to set us free.
Neptune is transiting through degrees 11 to 14. If you have personal planets in mutable signs, then you can expect to have the beauty of dreamy, romantic and spiritual Neptune in your life. It’s not always easy to navigate Neptune transits, the best way to deal with this watery giant is through not expecting to know or have clarity, but to get comfortable being in the unknown. It’s also a time to spiritualise your life, but keep it grounded and understand that any big changes are likely to be teaching you about self-delusion and illusion.
Then we have Pluto sojourning Capricorn from 16 to 19 degrees. Capricorn is a cardinal sign and so will be in a challenging but growth pushing aspect to other personal planets in cardinal signs which are Aries, Cancer and Libra. Pluto’s impact is to transform our lives so we feel empowered and deepened.
Throughout 2017, Jupiter and Uranus dance an opposition, dance. While Jupiter is about relationships and working together in Libra, Uranus in Aries is about independence and freedom. Quite a challenging dance at times and so expect these energies to pull at us at different times throughout the year. Ultimately we need to satisfy both parts within.
Overall the majority of the year is about independence, fire, drive, passion and energy with all the fire sign emphasis and the second half, especially from October, takes us more into emotional energy. This is a year to expand, learn and work on your projects and dreams. This year we are learning to take care of our needs within our relationships. It’s an exciting year and one we need to take by the horns…
