This month’s New Moon is in Taurus 6th May 2016 at 8.29 pm BST. This is the time when the veils between the worlds are at their most delicate and sensitive. It’s as though we are like jelly fish, able to sensitively feel into and see the other side. Or rather the real reality is able to peek through and show us what it is really all about. Stuff we would usually just attribute no meaning to, suddenly becomes imbued with meaning and relevance as we glimpse into the ‘real’ truth behind things. The ‘real’ world is far more complex and intricate than we ever give it credit.
We might have felt a little vague or fussy this Friday morning, with the Moon making a challenging minor aspect to Neptune, and Mercury being retrograde, but later on in the day, things should feel clearer. At all new moons, we have the opportunity to reset our goals and intentions. With all this retrograde planetary energy, the time is ripe to reassess the personal commitment you have to the reality you want to create. The pressure is high, and that could test your level of commitment. It’s about being at an important juncture in our lives and we can decide to go in a number of different directions.
It’s time to make a commitment, it’s time to say yes, or recommit. Our creative projects never really get off the ground if we don’t say very clearly yes to things. Our clear intention is an important part of this process. If you want things to happen, you need to follow through on your desire to make them happen, which requires certain things when working with manifest reality. This describes Taurus energy well; it’s about persistence, commitment, consistency and discipline. This fixed new moon is perfect for making something more manifest in your reality.
But the challenge, with all this very internal energy, some of which is in Taurus, is that we don’t want to be concerned with this world, with people, with connections and with reality itself. This internal energy doesn’t want to be pushed into connecting, lest we start to feel quickly exhausted. There’s a real possibility of depletion if we are not fully in tune with the dynamics of this energy, and because the internal is generally such a challenging space for most of humanity anyway, you can bet that (combined with the heat wave) it will lead to frazzled nerves, symptoms and perhaps even a sense of surrender and giving up (which perhaps isn’t so bad if its understood more in terms of beingness rather than hopelessness).
Nevertheless, we are still being asked to connect and build relationships but rather now from a place of connecting with our authentic true selves. This is a wider lesson for humanity, but more especially women, where reclaiming their bodies and their lives as their own is high on the agenda. Women are so used to either guarding or obsessing over their bodies that we don’t know how to connect to what is true for us. It’s time for this to change.
How can we build that authentic connection through the body? With Taurus, and the internal scope of this energy, it’s about being present in our bodies, when in relationship, when interacting. It’s about understanding it’s rhythmic, cyclical nature, of the body and all of life.
We are often not present in our bodies when directly in relationship with others, this is largely down to the lifetimes of trauma and a bombardment or invasion of the outside world into our inner space. Whether we know it consciously or not, puts us on red alert. I am constantly surprised how we do this babies and children, thinking they need stimulation, colour, activity, expression and excitement. We have no patterns, whatsoever, for stillness, being and just feeling, noticing what’s happening. We are bombarding our children with bubbles, lights, noise.
And for us, as adults, we exist generally in two places at once, part of us might be internal and another part is reaching out in our awareness, leaving ourselves, perhaps feeling into what others think, perceive or believe about us. It’s quite literally an abandonment of self.
It’s better if we can notice how we participate, observe what we do and how we could do it differently. We often have blanket ways of being with people, but our perception of our bodies is what means we are present in the moment with one another. Rather than unconsciously perceiving things and then unconsciously reacting to these things. Self-awareness is a prerequisite if we are to transform the way we manage ourselves. Catching our awareness and knowing how we perceive is central to our lives.
We all perceive in different ways – through our gut, intuition, being moved, touched, our interaction with others, how we see and what we hear, the list is endless. When developing awareness through the body, we are training ourselves to perceive in different ways, to perceive through it, we are looking for our differentiation within our body and the spirit within and that lay behind that expression through it. Our body is a powerful information and feedback system and when we are more present with it and welcoming of it, we immediately get connected in to our wholeness.
Our life fulfilment, our ability to tune into something larger, guiding us, alongside us, is directly linked with the sense of intuition and guidance that we receive through our bodies. Fulfilment in life comes through a sense of centredness and connectedness, and this often comes through physical signals. A relationship with the body is, for many people, the missing link to being happy.
The participants described connections with something bigger in relation to their bodies, nature, other people, as well as strong feelings. While all of the women were able to express what they were feeling in their bodies as they discussed different elements of fulfilment during the interview, only some directly linked their connection with something bigger to their bodies. Use this weekend to recommit to your intentions this weekend and anchor it in the physical, in the material and even in the body.
