This month’s new moon is in Scorpio on 11th November 2015 at 5.49 pm GMT. Entering Scorpio our minds turn towards releasing what’s outdated, in particular old deeply contained material held in our bodies. Scorpio time is a time of having those difficult conversations, digging into and exploring your own emotions, confronting our fears, whatever they may be. We should also be feeling a heightened awareness, what with Mercury’s connection to this New Moon.

Certainly with the ongoing Saturn Neptune square, we are having to face head on what no longer reflects our reality since Saturn in Sagittarius brings our religious or rigid ideas of reality into an uncomfortable and more direct experience (rather than the constructed conceptionalisation of Saturn in Sag) through the spiritual waters of Neptune in Pisces. More on this another time.

The good news is that the Scorpio New Moon is making a smooth connection with Jupiter and Chiron – so we should be feeling quite positive and optimistic about things right now. Like we are healing, expanding and in touch with ourselves to a large degree. Whatever your current endeavours, if they feel risky, outside of your familiar identity, uncomfortable but strangely liberating, then you are following the right signals and it is likely it’ll pay off.

Mars is the traditional ruler of Scorpio, so we look to Mars (as well as Pluto) when we have a new or full moon in Scorpio. The traditional rulers ruled signs before the later discovery of the outer planets. Mars is at the critical degree of Virgo, 29 degrees, a powerful position for him to be in, a lot can be achieved right now, on a practical level. It’s been a time of getting things done on a practical level, and this is amplified at this new moon, it is the time to complete things.

Mars is about to enter into Libra, a sign he feels less comfortable since Libra rules Venus, and as we know Mars and Venus are two very different planets. In Libra, he is in his detriment. Mars likes to focus his energy and Libra focuses on choices, balance and both sides of any equation. Mars can feel a certain level of paralysis in Libra and so it makes it more difficult for us to take decision and move forward, since taking action disturbs balance and all actions have an opposite.

At this new moon then we might feel poised between action and indecision. So while there’s part of us that wants to move forward, there are also many reasons not to. What’s important is to get realistic, and to do this we could use the help of Mercury, since he is making a supportive conjunction to this new moon. Mercury encourages us to communicate and work things out in our heads. So the way to work out what you need to do is through discussion and compromise, rather than getting fixed and forging ahead.

With Mars conjunct the North Node, which is at the potent 0 degrees Libra – opposite the Aries zero point, the projects and actions we are currently engaged in could be life changing. They are also likely to be world changing since this 0 degree energy highlights a public space. Whatever you are applying your energy towards is likely to have wide reaching ripples. This is great if you constructively using your Mars energy right now.

With the Lunar Nodes about to change signs from the Aries-Libra axis to the Pisces-Virgo axis, a change that takes place every year and half, so there’s a sense of things coming to a culmination. Although the spot light will be off the nodal relationship of Aries-Libra (self and other), the focus on relationship, to each other and our world is going to continue in other ways since these are broad themes within humanity’s awakening process.

The Mars – Venus conjunction has been creating lots of interesting dynamics, for some it’s been supportive of relationships, and for others more challenging. With their transition through Virgo, it’s been about ploughing energy into decluttering and clearing space for the new, getting clearer on processes and organising life in a way that brings more efficiency and beauty.

With Venus moving into her home sign of Libra, there’s yet another shift to relationships. This is a time for making connections with others, especially over work-oriented projects. If things have felt stagnant and stuck, they should have gotten moving in the last few days and the momentum will likely stay around for a couple of weeks yet. When making decisions, trust your gut, but don’t leave out the discussion first – it’s best to weigh up the pros and cons out loud (rather than in your head) before then going with your instinct. Have a good couple of weeks.
