We have a New Moon in Taurus on 4th May 2019 at 10.55 pm. May has begun with some kick starting energy. With the focus on Taurus energy, which is the ‘I have’ of the zodiac – manifestation, creativity, and beauty, it’s a great New Moon to make a list of intentions or ritualise what you want for the month.
You could see this New Moon and month as an important threshold for the year, or even the next 7 years since there’s a strong focus this month on how we can channel the powerful Uranus in Taurus.
But Taurus is not just about creativity and manifestation, it’s also about focus, rhythm, stillness and calmness. It’s a very dynamic force, bringing the earth energy into a realised, practical form. And with it comes a surrendering, it’s a time where we can take our sweet time, and develop a deeper trust in nature’s many rhythms to orientate us towards our soul’s fulfilment.
So how creative can you get on getting your dreams fulfilled and align with your Divine purpose? If last month’s Aries energy was about the spark that generates an idea, this month’s Taurus focus gives that idea a form and substance. To know where this focus is in your natal chart look to the house that Taurus rules – this sector of your life is where you can plant the seeds and make headway this month.
Certainly it’s been a long time coming to have access to this kind of kick ass energy, a focused but still sense of ourselves. We can expect this unleashed at the New Moon and running until at least mid month. If there’s things you’ve been putting off for months or even years, this is THE two weeks to tap into the planetary powerhouse.
There’s also a shift mid month from yang to yin, with this these two opposing forces coming into a harmonious aspect, relating and flowing together. This will really get our creative and sexual energy flowing.
Directly after the New Moon, on 5th May, Mars forms a quincunx to Pluto, and an opposition to Jupiter. It’s wise to check motivations, our own and other peoples. Pluto effectively reveals what stands in the way of Mars getting what it wants, and Jupiter represents meaning and perception of truth and reality. Mars and Jupiter in combination gives us access to drive and expansion of energy.
Just be mindful that while Mars is the planet of assertion, drive and determination and Jupiter is the expansion, with this combination Jupiter amplifies Mars. This means we can expect more impatience and a shorter fuse. Be mindful of reactions and jumping to conclusions; make sure what you said is what was heard and vice versa; that what you heard was what was meant.
But we also have access to a more considered, deliberate reaction with the Sun in Taurus. So going slow under this influence is easier, and if we use this more considered Taurus approach we will be sure to bring awareness to our reactions and check our assumptions and perception before diving in.
Certainly by and large this month is the best for accomplishment and getting those things done that have been waiting in the wings. With more access to drive and determination we will feel more full and impactful. Like our energy is behind us and the universe has our back. It’s a great time to work towards something of higher principle also.
Yet mid month also the Sun trines Saturn and then Pluto, bringing in the capacity for us to harness some discipline and concentrated focus. With Saturn and Pluto closely conjunct the South Node in Capricorn, our unconscious shadow material – that which is personal and collective is in our psyche, is a part of the picture, and so while it’s supportive link from the Sun, it can still require us to address deeper issues.
Earlier on in the week on 7th, we have Venus square Saturn, a heavier experience in terms of our relationships, resources and love. Then two days later we have a Venus trine Jupiter bringing an expansion of relationships, finances, resources and love, quite the complete opposite in fact.
Yet another challenging squarem with Venus square Pluto, bringing intensity, complexity and power issues into play. Around the same time, we have a Sun sextile Neptune, likely to add to that uplifted feeling and sense of expansion, hope, trust and faith that we feel a few days later.
Alongside all these planetary aspects is a building flowing sextile aspect of Venus sextile Mars which will last into the second week – a comfortable flowing energy between the yin and yang of the zodiac.
All this suggest a real high and low, or mixed bag in the arena of relationships. Some will feel dreamy and deeply satisfying, others will bring intense and deep interactions. The light and dark side of Venus’ magnetic energy is being highlighted.
There’s a lot of focus on the ruler of Taurus, Venus. With Uranus also in Taurus, this New Moon and the forthcoming energies gives us a sense of how we can channel the energies of 7 years of Uranus sojourning Taurus. We can really get in touch with our practical determination and ability to be in it for the long haul.
As Mercury moves into Taurus on 6th May, two days after this New Moon in Taurus, he quickly forms a conjunction to Uranus. What we need to be aware of is that there’s a lot of new energies that want to be channeled through Uranus, but that it’s a practical, stable expression of that newness, it might also ask perseverance and consistency from us. It’s about making it real and tangible long lasting changes.
It’s about letting go of thinking, communicating and learning patterns that are not working for you anymore and taking a new fresh approach. Perhaps seeing yourself from a different angle or perspective.
When Venus moves into Taurus mid month this harmonious, flowing energy is further enhanced. And then yet further still when Mars around the same time moves into Cancer, enhancing a more emotional place for our energy expression. Around the same time they form the Venus-Mars sextile, and stay close together for a few days. This gets us in touch with the yin very deeply and brings us back home.
This New Moon is a special opportunity to understand how to use Uranus energy for the next 7 years, so see what you receive this month, especially around 6 – 8 May and consider how the new paradigm of taking time, having patience and resolve resonates and works for you. Take a look at your beliefs, judgments and perceptions, stabilise new supportive habits. With that look at your edges to discipline, focus and concentrating your energy.
Look at your connection to the earth and nature, it’s resources and of course your own body – the ultimate resource you have. How can you begin to go back home, to being human, to being in touch with your body.
Much of the time, the reality of being human and experiencing human emotions, our vulnerability, our human needs and is the last thing on our minds. The yin energy that we get more in touch with mid month supports us to have a more human, as opposed to spiritual or even other planetary connection.
On many levels, people resist their deeper selves, their human selves and a deeper connection with others – of feeling what’s there and what connecting to other human beings brings up. Instead the self is avoided through too much verbiage, not feeling, hiding or drinking, for example. There’s many other ways we can avoid confronting ourselves.
Often there’s fears there, initially, at least, until we learn to drop deeper in and feel that deeper nature. When we develop a deeper connection, perhaps we start taking ourselves and our bodies more seriously. After all when we actually feel ourselves we begin to know we actually exist, see our human fragility and limitation and start living like there’s no tomorrow. It’s not a bad thing to have access to your vulnerability and know life is precious.
But more than all this, we experience the beauty of being human – the love, joy, the subtle sensations, the sensory experience of music, the richness and vitality of having a body. Being human is the best thing on this planet! We just need to want and have the desire and yearning to experience it – then the Divine orchestrates the healing you need to be there and have that experience. It’s not a smooth path, but it is a rich one, full of deep learning and lots of beauty.
I will never forget the time when in Vietnam I saw a live pig on the back of a moped, I have never forgotten the complexity of my emotions in that moment – I remember feeling so much sorrow but utter amusement at the same time. These moments of the utter despair but reverance of what it means human keep me interested. Welcome your feeling world, it makes life vibrant and fuller, even if a little more challenging.
