This month we have a new moon in Aquarius at 2.40 pm GMT on 8th February 2016. Aquarius is concerned with community, groups, working together towards a shared vision or high ideals. Aquarius speaks of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts. When the Sun slides through Aquarius at this time every year, we are invited to recognise the needs of humanity as a whole, rather than see ourselves in our isolated existence.

The depositor of this new moon is Uranus and so this subsequent month will be Uranus themed, and especially more so since at this new moon, Uranus teams up with many planets suggesting many opportunities for upshifts and transformation if we plant the seeds of our intent.

All new moons are powerful for beginning new ventures that we want to last and endure. When all the planets are above the chart horizon we are looking at an outward facing, non-subjective approach to life. It is now about community and connection. It’s important to understand that in serving the whole we do serve ourselves.

When we go through life without allowing ourselves to feel others, their pain, their feelings, we remain cut off from ourselves, our own soul, stuck in the domain of the ego, feeding our separation.

This new moon emphasises reaching out, advancing, making connections and building your networks. If you know you need to expand your social or business circle, this new moon will support any movement in that direction. But think in terms of serving the whole, of being connected for a higher purpose than that which fulfils just you.

The vision for this new moon, for Aquarius rules our dreams and visions, shines upon now being the time to create your own wheel. Many people recreate the wheel and then try and sell it. For something to be your wheel and your calling, it needs to feel uniquely yours, your heart needs to feel engaged in it at the deepest level. You might have more of an inkling of what this might be now – it might be feeling clearer.

The wisdom of community gives us a safe haven to explore the deeper meaning behind our lives and allow our deeper selves that is usually hidden to come to the fore. A community that is willing to listen to you as you are without judgment or censorship. This sense of community allows the deeper you to come out into the world.

This is why we need sisterhoods – a place where women can gently grow into themselves, a space for honest reflection and love. Where women have the opportunity to explore their potential with other women similarly learning to expand fully into themselves. We as women hold ourselves back from being ourselves.

Who is it that you are growing into? Well, often the signs and seeds of your potential are there in your early childhood dreams or a numinous early experience. What did you obsess about when you were young, children get obsessed about things that point towards their potential. What was it that fed your soul like nothing else? Usually there’s a key there that will lead you towards your niche, your personal wheel.

All innovation begins with what is and imagines a distant way to improve upon it. For a new vision to be born, the old needs to die to allow space for the new. What do you need to let go of to truly invite in and make space for the new? Where do you need to make a leap of faith? What do you need to recognise in yourself which you don’t quite yet see and how do you need to know yourself better?

Aquarius is a complex sign as it holds elements of mainstream and the individual. Aquarius energy often feels different from the mainstream, and therefore tends to feel separate from the outside world, disconnected and detached, sometimes even numb to the other, or empty. But in its more essence-like form, it is about perspective, space and observing with awareness.

We all want to feel like we fit in with the world, we all want to belong and experience a sense of community with our brothers and sisters. But in truth, our inner diversity is what we actually need to embrace. We strive to fit in and belong, squeeze ourselves into a straitjacket, and because of this we create a deep sense of insecurity and worthlessness inside. But when we find and embrace our unique selves and our unique gifts then we can offer ourselves to the community from a place of self-value rather than neediness. We do need each other, but we need to know ourselves first, what we can offer to the world, and our niche.

So with this Aquarius New Moon, we have an opportunity to drop into our empty, insecure places within or even numb feelings that disconnect us from one another. We can access an Aquarian essence of space and freedom, and ultimately that infinite potential and vision for the future us, and the future world.

When we feel lost, when something is missing or we don’t know what choice to make it is difficult to be willing to stay with this experience rather than wanting to push it away. When we allow ourselves to explore what is difficult we can discover what’s hidden from us, we find more of ourselves. Parts of our true selves are hidden within our challenging experiences and states and only through going into these states and experiences can we reclaim ourselves. The longer we avoid contact with these unpleasant places in our lives the more we remain detached from our wholeness.

More than anything, the aspects this new moon brings remind us that like Aquarius energy, we have the ability to transform the very fabric of our own reality. Under Aquarius influence, if you want to start a revolution, we can. We can change the way things are done, we can make things work better and you can pour your energy into what you desire and want for yourself.
