With this New Moon in Cancer on 4th July 2016 at 11.02 am BST, we begin a new emotional cycle which means it’s our opportunity to realign ourselves with our goals and intentions. It’s not the best of time to consciously begin new projects at this new moon since the energies that come shortly after it are challenging – so whatever you begin will hold that same challenging frequency.

This New Moon is, in part, a sweet breath of fresh air, with it moving into a conjunction with Venus later in the day and forming a watery, cooling trine with Neptune. We also have a grand water trine with Mars in Scorpio, Neptune in Pisces and Venus in Cancer, which is supportive on a feeling level.

A couple of days later in the week on 7th, more challenging energies arise with Pluto opposing the Sun and Venus squaring Uranus. This isn’t easy energy and our sense of security and safety is challenged at it’s core. Many people, especially here in the UK, are now asking where do I belong and what can I trust in? These are big questions that essentially go way beyond into our very psychology and soul. The New Moon is asking us to now think about how we navigate this at a deeper essence feeling level while all can be brought under the one umbrella, rather than get stuck in the duality of the mind where all parts are separate.

Cancer and its ruler the Moon represents our personal connection to the world around us – our big community and how that echoes down into our bodies and feelings. It is our feelings and emotional needs, and our childhood roots. Cancer is the sign of the mother. But most significantly, this New Moon is almost right on fixed star Sirius which symbolises Goddess Isis.

As a world, we are collectively experiencing the return of Isis and it is happening in this very moment, at this New Moon. It is also happening through the agency of women coming together, to meet their power, and it is being accelerated through the recognition that the current halls of power are pretty much impotent to affect the changes that are now needed. We cannot resolve things just at that level anymore and we have to stop trying.

The return of the Goddess does not mean She descends from the heavens with a flaming sword. It means that She fully embodies Herself in the hearts and minds of women, living through us, and as women we then find our voices to speak our truth and the Divine will to take right action.

As a fixed star at 13 degrees Cancer (note 13 is the Goddess number and if you have points or planets on or near this point), Sirius is a high voltage star, like a spotlight, She is success that can burn, its a huge responsibility if this is highlighted in your chart. With its connection to the Goddess Isis, there’s always a path of bringing forth the Divine Feminine in some form.

Here in Cancer, She is able to bring about the rebirth and resurrection that we are all so longing for – so this is New Moon with some heat and action to it, behind the superficial ease, it has potency and deep meaning.

When we think about our emotional lives, how do we experience our emotions? In a way that releases and transforms us somehow or as chronic repeating emotions that don’t take us anywhere fast. Are we able to access the rebirth necessary in our emotional world? How can we do that? Through Sirius, Isis is commanding that we can move beyond emotional immaturity into a more deeper feeling world that holds all of our own diversity, all shades of us who we are, while also holding the rest of humanity too.

While we can get stuck in the child-like Cancer, with our Inner Child playing out old patterns and impulses, needs not met, power struggles, old trauma, it’s wise to begin to grow our Goddess self who can nurture and shower our Inner Child or emotional self with the Unconditional love she needs, changing us at a quantum level.

This theme of rebirth is furthered when we look at Pluto playing his part a few days later. The opposition from Pluto later in the week, highlights challenges to our experience of safety. What are we avoiding looking at? How are we creating a fake safety for ourselves? How we can anchor into a deeper security? Pluto can represent abandonment, and collectively we are all working through this deep abandonment that we experience from the Divine Feminine (often projected onto our own mothers), which is essentially our trust in the earth and our own Divine Source providing for us. We are rediscovering that we are always loved and learning to experience this love as a current that flows through our lives, through our very bones and out into the collective.

While this challenge from Pluto might be tough for Cancer since it craves security, attachment and protection from all outside sources of invasion, its also offering us a valuable transformational opportunity to grow and develop our sense of safety on the inside, rather than it be projected onto something outside of us.

If we stay cocooned with our security blanket, believing the world is mad and separate from us, the world is going to wake us up to what we are not prepared to acknowledge as also part of us.

Our ability to see all sides and be in all corners without suffering or identifying with one more than another offers us an ease in the world, and a spiritual rank. So if you are already somewhat there, by all means be in the Oneness, hold that space and be that container for all the parts but also be prepared to take the different conflictual sides rather than stay in the Oneness – we need to bring it back into the world in real ways.

There’s a clear distinction between being present in our world, holding it all compassionately, welcoming it all as aspects of ourselves and separating it off as madness where we just need to hold the light. We can use our position of spiritual rank and authority in a way that doesn’t in anyway invalidate or disparage the opinions of others.

We can all hold our different opinions and views, some of know the facts, some of us feel it, some of us have a spiritual perspective, we can hold it all, one aspect doesn’t need to be better or more true than another. All bits are needed, they have all been parts of us at one time or another, all of us hold all the perspectives within and so we can facilitate between all the sides if we can also honour our spiritual perspective.  The Goddess is bringing the changes we need in the world, we just first need to align ourselves with Her.
