This New Moon culminates at 20 degrees Libra at 12.07 am GMT on 13th October 2015. She is opposed by Uranus bringing us into close contact with the new and the old. Uranus encourages breakdown and breakthrough. He wants change. Libra wants balance.

Libra season is all about balance and harmony, within ourselves and within our relationships. This is a time to explore a state of suspension of opposites, rather than their polarisation – the arguments of the recent Venus-Mars-Saturn configuration are now behind us. So very simply, how can we bring some balance back into our lives? What do we need to pick up again? What new quality can we draw out or into our relationships?
Our usual idea of resolving relationship issues is getting the other person to see what they can’t see, and we can get quite fixated on them fixing their stuff. This is the longest route to change, which doesn’t address the actual issue – that we are part of a field of energy, that we share the same roles, are on the same continuum, but can’t see it, let alone experience it.
The quickest route therefore is to invite our consciousness to recognise the part of us that is also that which disturbs us so much in the other – which is ultimately out-pictured in our relationships and our partners’ behaviour. That way we avoid feeling getting stuck in the victim or powerless role.
Last Friday the last Mercury retrograde cycle ended. As far as Mercury retrogrades go, this one was strangely less disruptive, certainly in a practical sense, than most others. There appeared to be a stronger emphasis on sorting through our own values and communication within relationships. What light has been shed on our communication and relationship patterns and how much have we released during this recent Mercury retrograde phase?
Mercury is now transiting direct and in conjunction with the North Node and Black Moon Lilith, coming up to oppose Uranus later this month. Mercury’s close proximity to the North Node gives us a dream door into the future – where we are right now is exactly where we need to be focusing our energies. It’s a good time to trust your reality, what it’s mirroring back in terms of life choices, your decisions too can be trusted (now that Mercury is direct) and accept that time and energy spent with current projects is going to be energy well spent.
More importantly perhaps, Mercury activates the incredibly potent Aries point (zero degrees Aires) at this New Moon. The Aries point is a powerful point where what’s personal to us becomes public and what’s public becomes personally very important. Bearing in mind the very personal nature of many of the world’s events, we are becoming increasingly personally engaged, touched and moved by the suffering and experiences of others – they are more on our doorstep and we are being called to question the distance we erect between our self and others.   We are learning that what’s personal is public and political, and what’s political is also very personal. The two are inextricably connected – our feeling world is increasingly extending out to encompass the experience of those on the other side of our globe.
Venus and an array of other planets are currently sojourning Virgo. This is a great time to continue the examination and sorting through of our value system, consciously updating values that no longer serve us. How have we changed over the last few months, what new values have we adopted? Venus has recently moved out of her week’s long close square to Saturn in Sagittarius – challenging our self-worth, our relationships and what we hold dear (or get attached to). If we are now feeling in touch, or at the precipice of being in touch with these new values, we can begin to reinforce them by living them in our relationships.
It’s also a powerful time for manifestation over the next week with Venus in Earth sign Virgo, coming up to trining Pluto in earth sign Capricorn while making a conjunction to Jupiter. It’s also a consolidation of that shift in our value system – powerful realisations that inspire us us stand for something different, hold more integrity and truth, are in the process of being fully integrated.
It’s sometimes very difficult to sort out where we want to stand with our values. We can easily get swept up with charisma and all the right noises or content, not really feeling into whether something or somebody deeply reflects what we truly believe or value. We are in the process of solidifying this new grounding so our visions and relationships are structured around the right values.
We’ve recently worked through some significant self-worth issues around this, which will doubtless include lots of self-judgement or criticism. With Venus just moved on from opposing Nessus, we can now let ourselves off the Nessus hook. As a centaur and messenger of Pluto, Nessus processes are there to raise consciousness.
I would also go as far as saying that we are moving beyond the idea of making decisions based on our value systems and stepping into a trust in life bringing us the right circumstances for our growth, even if those circumstances force us to put aside our value system. That is perhaps the new value system we are exploring, that we need to drop having a fixed one altogether choosing instead to follow what feels right, even if it opposes what we hold dear.  That seems to reflect Libra suspension perfectly.
