The Full Moon in Scorpio on 4th May 2015 at 3.42 am GMT at 13 degrees Scorpio is traditionally associated with the Buddha, variously quoted as celebrating his physical birth, or his spiritual birth at his enlightenment. The signs of Taurus and Scorpio speak of the transformation of desire – from that which causes our suffering, to that which releases us from it.

Jupiter in Leo is exactly at the apex of a T-square with the Taurus Sun opposite Scorpio Moon (the Full Moon), and so the completing, empty leg sign of this Fixed Grand Cross is Aquarius (Leo, Taurus, Scorpio and Aquarius are all fixed signed). So while apex Jupiter is feeling a lot of pressure at the moment, Aquarius and it’s focus on equality can be the answer at this full moon and Ceres occupies Aquarius at 7 degrees suggesting here that we can benefit from working together perhaps in group associations or connecting with our networks.

Mars will soon enter Gemini moving to oppose Saturn (in Sagittarius), square Nessus (in Pisces) and semi-square Uranus. After which the Sun enters Gemini, and the sequence above repeats. Gemini and Pisces are dual signs teaching us about polarity, duality, conflict, reconciliation, resolution and transcendence. Saturn in Sagittarius helps us see a little more through real eyes, helping us rise above these mutable dualities.

This is a time when we are gathering more awareness around how we are holding, carrying and playing out the polarities and conflicts in our lives. The first step to moving out of duality is being faced with it. We can’t skip this stage, so solutions might not yet be ready to present themselves right now although the complexity of the challenges might be clear for us to see – as it is at most full moons.

What we see as polarised to us is often imbued with a lot of power and energy by us. We project out our power and effectively lose out, seeing others and things outside as holding the key to whether we are happy or not. We are in a long-term learning and growth process around this. We will keep projecting and disowning until we are ready to take full responsibility for every part of our creation at the highest and deepest levels.

The minor Saturn Uranus aspects presenting themselves now both raise fears and also bring the opportunity to release and move past them. It’s not about denying our fear, but recognising the polarisations (projections, rejections etc) which the ego creates in an attempt to feel in control and building our awareness around this which helps to create a compassionate witness holding all polarities.

As Nessus recently entered Pisces, it is now square Saturn in Sagittarius, and semi-square Uranus, the planet of awakening, in Aries. A phrase which sums up the Nessus process is ‘The Buck Stops Here’ (Melanie Reinhart). Nessus is often active where there are ancestral issues in a person’s chart – indicating that that person is here to complete the healing necessary for their ancestors.

So here we might be re-encountering what we thought was finished or left behind. With Saturn and Uranus also in aspect to Nessus here we have also a process of denial, splitting and projection of that which we are trying to change. This creates a one-sidedness in us – we are split off from the other. Now there is the opportunity for that which we split from to return, perhaps uncomfortably so, so we can reclaim it fully as part of our own creation.

This Scorpio full moon would usually perhaps be about controlling emotional responses and denying perhaps our emotions – Scorpio likes to hide, but with Jupiter making an exact square at this full moon, there’s little chance of hiding as he forces things on the table. So at the moment we can only assume it’s a good time to be open and honest with ourselves and others.

There is a strong emphasis on the darkness and shadow with Plutonic energy, something which we naturally usually disown. The question is always why are we so afraid of being wrong, making mistakes and saying sorry? If we could believe that our vulnerability and weakness can be a source of inspiring humility, we would all be much better off in the world. There would be far more honesty and flow in our lives. It’s actually much simpler to let go and admit we might be wrong than stand our ground being sure we are right.

The interplay between the Sun and Moon at this full moon is quite clear. Here we have issues of resources and ownership, values and possessions, both personal and shared. Taurus helps us focus on building up our resources and sense of self (which sometimes gets too fixed), but with this stability comes also an inertness and stagnancy which inevitably evokes the kind of intense life crises that are associated with Scorpio, a breaking down of fixity in the interests of transformation and new life. If we are denying our shadow, which can be as simple as that which we cling to for identity, or that which helps us feel stable and safe, then we can be sure that that element of safety and control that our ego so adores is going to get a wake up call sooner or later. Try letting go into the fear at this full moon and watch how liberated you feel afterward.
