Saturday 13 March – New Moon in Pisces 10:21 GMT

We have a Full Moon in Virgo on 26th February 2021 – the last lunation in February. We are just coming out of Mercury retrograde in Aquarius and he is completing his conjunction with Jupiter, and other planets and last degrees of Mars in Taurus. There’s a lot of completions.

We also have a real shift of energies this month, on many levels, and so getting some orientation around that shift will help set us up for the change of energy and how to manage it. We also have a quieter week or two for aspects, giving me the opportunity to run down on more of a bigger shifts taking place.

All the planets that were lined up in Aquarius have already started to go their separate ways, dispersing and moving away from some of their conjunctions. Whatever house this fell in your chart will have been particularly telling. It might have finally felt recently that things are coming together in this certain area of life. You might have been waiting for quite a few months.

Mercury is also finally coming out of a back and forth conjunction with Saturn which is what has brought that melancholy tone over the past few weeks. The Mercury-Jupiter conjunction on 5th brings welcome news or progress, the third in a series of three. This feel good factor should last until the middle of the month, finding us find a way through what has been perhaps challenging territory.

Until Mercury moves into Pisces mid month, Mercury will pick up the best of Mars in Gemini (this is from 4th), which suggests lots of communication, although scattered and at times overwhelming. Mars energies Mercury in a positive way although on the night of 4th, with Mercury conjoining Jupiter and the Moon opposite Mars, there could be some heated conversations.

As Mars is at the end of Taurus and on 3rd moves into Gemini, he finally ends his long-term square with Saturn, which began last June. This was a very unusual transit as with last year’s Mars retrograde, Mars went into square, backed away, and then back into it, over this long term period (Mars moves slowly – especially when moving into and out of retrograde).

Back then, Saturn was in the final degrees of Capricorn, and Mars in Aries. Then Saturn was in Aquarius and Mars in Taurus. In both instances they were in the uncomfortable square. With Saturn now fully in Aquarius, and Mars in the final degrees of Taurus, we can finally say this is the end of the Mars square Saturn.

This effect of putting on the brakes, or not being able to be flourishing in productivity, is finally over. While it can for some people, be a time of productivity as some work well under this sort of resistance, most do not and prefer flow with their productivity. Mars and Saturn are known as the two malefics, and working together in a more resistant manner explains a lot of 2020 (although there are many other reasons for 2020 also).

We are now entering into some flowing energy between Mars in Gemini, trine Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius. It’s more constructive, brings less frustration and much more movement. It suggests more flexibility and fluidity than we’ve had for months. However with Mercury then in Pisces we have that in square to Mars, more on that later.

With both the Sun and Venus in Pisces there’s more lightness, more of a fresh, open approach. They are preparing for their rare superior conjunction. This Pisces mutable influence helps us find ways to around obstacles and since we’ve been in so much fixed energy, especially of late, this should feel light relief. A breath of fresh air.

Venus is also exalted in Pisces, and provides abundantly here. But Venus is invisible as so close to the Sun, so we won’t see her rise or set. This is an interesting combination. Exalted Venus, alone, would bring a lot of social activity and generate a fair flurry of external action and certainly this exhalation means she can resist the strong Sun rays somewhat. So Venus is finishing her last phase and getting ready to open up a cycle, as she enters into the heart of the Sun.

Mars in Gemini’s scattering effect is more challenging to manage later in the month. The time to really capitalise on getting things done is this week and next, especially with Mercury’s conjunction to Jupiter and Mars still in Taurus 3rd-5th.

We might see a lot of unlocking this week and next, finally making progress. As Mercury moves into Pisces, square Mars in Gemini, our will to get things done might start feeling less potent. Mercury in square to Mars can be tense and a verbally combative energy. This square between Mercury and Mars is ongoing for the whole year at different points, so this is a agonistic year more generally, and reflects a lot of what we are collectively working through.

A longer term transit that I have briefly referred to before is Neptune square the Nodes. This has has been the issues we have in the mainstream around self-deception, delusion, victimhood and the tendency towards subjectivity – if you believe it then it must be true.

Interestingly, Nessus is square the nodes also. Nessus, a centaur, like all centaurs, takes us beyond normal everyday consciousness and expectations into higher levels of awareness. The myth also speaks of a need for accountability and like all centaurs, there is a need to right the past abuses. And while not straight forward or easy, it will nevertheless be be forced upon whomever needs to feel it.

With more Saturn square Uranus squares throughout the year, and certain peak times speaking of unraveling, reactions and restrictive responses, we are in for some challenge. First and foremost is our sovereignty, this comes before everything else, and it is taking more centre stage as we begin to all step into our sovereign power, or being, as I feel it.

On a side note, the sovereign being is very different to the higher self within, she is rooted, earthy, nourishing and in the body. The higher self has a different feel and never quite as safe. Call in your sovereign being when working with your own healing and see how different it feels, you might get a pleasant, powerful surprise… and with the Sun-Venus conjunction coming soon, it’s the time…

Tarot – Wheel of Life

Revolving, not standing still, no beginning, no end. Revolving you can’t escape. Revolving – holding on to happiness, holding on to suffering. Lost in the magnetic field of revolving. Round and round you go, wondering why nothing is resolved. When the blindness of love thaws, you regain your sight. Subtle shifts in orbit. You’ll find the answer by the river.

Archetypes – The Cave

Those who are fortunate enough to find and enter The Cave are forever changed. It is a place of potent power, acting both as portal to another realm and a space for sacred ritual and initiation. The Cave is a place to return for meaningful retreat, where one can “see” the true self in the darkness. In esoteric teachings, The Cave is known to reside in the center of the heart. Within its walls the whispers of compassion and self-understanding can be heard. Yet because of its mystery and power, many of us fear The Cave and never try to find it. We busy ourselves in the bright lights of the city while the cavernous and dimly lit chamber calls out to us in the night. Where is your cave? You already know. Return to it and tend the fire. When light it is the sacred center within. When dark it is withdrawal, isolation, hiding.

I’Ching – Art of Self-Assurance 20

This hexagram can be interpreted as Contemplation. Contemplation is an art that moves you from superficiality and absence, to presence. The key is to gain an awareness about the missing level of depth with which you’ve been living your life. The first phase of contemplation is that our outer life is built upon the foundation of our inner life. This hexagram takes us from within, to enter a higher path, a path of awareness. To see into the truth of who we are we have to learn to be more considered. The second layer of contemplation is about viewing yourself in relation to the world, feeling the impact our absence and presence has in the world. When our natural inner principles rise to the surfaces we feel more self assured, which starts to give us a deep sense of purpose in the world. Presence is like the light, and absence is the lack of light. Whenever presence arrives it brings a sense of calm and clarity. The third aspect of contemplation is when contemplation ceases of its own accord. You are no longer seen or the seer, you are simply presence whether moving or still. Presence is utterly surrendered and it is letting go. You can’t force it, it isn’t about will, it’s about perfection. It just requires a love of the subtle. Presence is everywhere in everything.
