This month’s Solar Eclipse is at 8 degrees Pisces on 26th February 2017 at 2.58 pm. We currently have a heap of planets in Pisces. This eclipse is conjunct the South Node, which means we are dealing with the past – past karma, past lives and old patterns.

Eclipses awaken and reveal new information, and here it highlights what has been hidden from our conscious awareness, now bought into the light. Perhaps we have been missing something from our lives and we are only now just realising what we have lost. With Pisces, it’s what we have been secretly grieving, perhaps even very unconsciously. It’s now dawning upon us.

A Solar Eclipse is where the Sun and Moon conjoin (at the same degree of the zodiac) but are also parallel in declination. This is where the Moon aligns precisely between the Sun and the Earth so that it casts a shadow on the Earth. From the Earth’s perspective the Moon moves across the Sun blocking its light. So it’s as if the Sun’s life force and his qualities of ego, desires, individuation, self-expression, positivity and vitality give way to the Moon’s qualities of feeling, intuition and needs.

This isn’t easy, since our conscious egos and desires are being challenged. We need to get prepared to make way for the Big Us, the expanded Pisces version, that is not aligned with our small ego desires, but the infinite Us. Our egos are more often than not living out of fear, in protective mode or just limiting our joy and capacity for a fulfilled life.

Where do I hold on to life fearfully? How do I mitigate pain or suffering against myself, the most authentic part of me? Suffering can become part of life, it’s a programme most of us hold – that to grow, we need to suffer. We are now at the beginning of a journey that will challenge that assumption and align us with the largest, most majestic part of us, our Soul’s purpose, where everyone wins, at the deepest and highest level.

We are facing this big question. Can I choose my authentic self? Can I really choose that? Even if I see people I love suffer in pain because of what I choose? Nobody likes to see others suffer. And for some now, this is the backdrop. This eclipse signals that necessary changes need to be made to get our lives back on track. What has been holding you back? What have you been missing, yearning or longing for, that’s been on the backburner or completely marginalised by you? What have you been living without, that you simply can’t now live without anymore? Where do you martyr yourself? Is there deep, unacknowledged sadness in you? What needs to be relinquished so to reconnect you with your authentic self? These are not easy questions, since our longings, our soul purpose, often redirect us – out of relationships, jobs and homes.

Mars is in Aries now making an exact conjunction with Uranus, which means this dawning realisation might feel sudden and abrupt. Uranus gives Mars a jittery quality, so we might feel pretty uneasy with this new awareness. Mars rules conflict and anger, so there might be inner conflict and of course we might see some volatile times in our personal lives and our world at large. Jupiter is opposite Mars also, which just exacerbates the issue – Jupiter expands whatever he touches.

These are not predictable times, what we fear the most, will come up to be faced. We need to be able to breathe deeply into that fear and not let it take the life out of us. We need to willing and able to change course quickly, adapt, and be prepared to simply let go what has outlived its purpose. Any epiphanies or revelations received now herald the beginning of a six-month process towards completion. We are saying goodbye to the old and for some of us, this will be a painful few months, especially if our old identity and egos are strongly tied up in our current familiar lives and the status quo. The secret is to prepare to surrender to our Divine Selves, to let It run the show and to totally trust in its wisdom, knowing and deepest love of all.

Those of us on a spiritual path are constantly being challenged to grow and align with our spirits and true soul purpose. Anything that impedes the full expression and growth of our soul will be tested, for longevity and resilience. We can’t grow and be in our true authentic selves if we are hanging onto relationships, jobs, homes, friends, even countries that don’t allow that full expression. Sometimes we say to ourselves, well, I need something stable, or I need to at least conform somewhere if the rest of me is driving against mainstream, but unfortunately the answer is that no part of us is allowed to just conform now because it feels safer or easier.

Easy and safe is not allowed, as our deepest safety is in our spirit, not in the outside, external world. Our spirits will test our resolve and our commitment to our own truth. We need to dig deep into our own truth if we are ride the waves initiated by this eclipse. No stones are to be left unturned.

A lot of this will play out in relationships over the next 6 months or so. Venus stations retrograde on 3rd March at 13 degrees Aries marking the beginning of a rare six week review around relationships, finances and personal values. She turns direct on 15th April squaring Saturn and conjoining Chiron, the wounded healer, bringing challenges as well as potential healing, through love. This is a pivotal time for relationships. What happens in the next few weeks under this astrological weather might be played out over the next 6 months.

I say this because Venus almost met Mars, her celestial lover, in February but came outside of that by 5 degrees. We are not allowed resolution on relationships right now, we are entering into a testing period. We will now have to wait until early October 2017 for their reunion which will be an excellent time to begin or renew relationships, especially as Venus and Mars will be making a powerful, intense connection to Pluto at that time, exciting times if you meet someone new around that time, and particularly important for you if you have Venus or Mars in your 7th house, or Aries or Taurus on your descendent in your natal chart.

So if we face our fears, there are good times ahead, even if in the meantime we have to do some deep processing, revisit our values, renew or let go of relationships and acknowledge our deepest, most unmet needs. Keep your awareness with you and feel into where change needs to most happen in your life, then breathe deeply into that, we can trust and surrender to our spirit – it wants what is best for you.
