At this dark of the moon in Aquarius on 20th January 2015 at 1.13 pm GMT we have yet another 0 degree new moon. This is unusual since this is now the fourth new moon in a row at this pivotal, powerful degree, beginning first with Solar eclipse in Scorpio in October. This is also the first of two new moons in Aquarius this month – there’s one occupying the final degree too on February 18th.  So what does this mean for us as individuals and for humanity as a whole?

Lots of us have been feeling like things are being asked of us that we simply don’t have the new patterns for. Humanity is in the same ship, we can see where we need to go, but somehow cannot connect the dots and see how on earth we are going to get there. There’s such a wide chasm between these two realities and somehow we need to narrow the gap. At the same time, we are all being squeezed and pushed to the point of maximum tension. But its the getting to where we so need we need to be but feeling helpless to get there that brings up so much hopelessness. It’s hard to stay positive when perhaps we are cycling the same old ground and nothing much is really changing for the better. How do we stay in a positive frame, hopeful and open when things seem to cycle?

So these new moons are like energetic kicks starts that force us into new patterns. Although physically they don’t do anything, on an energy level, they are pushing us past edges in our identity so we touch parts of ourselves that don’t get much airtime. And it’s the current astrology – Pluto, Uranus, the Nodes and these new moons that are giving us that much needed lift to change subtle, familiar patterns that we are just not being allowed to live anymore. This new moon squares the new moon in October too, so whatever you were working towards then is now ready to make itself more manifest in reality – perhaps you already know what this thing is for you, something that you know you have needed to get sorted for a long time.

The Scorpio Solar Eclipse in October asked us to let go of the old to make way for the new and most likely conjured up all that dark, deep fear that we knew we needed to release. The Sagittarius New Moon in November challenged us to question and interrogate all these long standing beliefs that have kept all our fears and old behaviours in place, putting it all in a broader light. Next the Capricorn New Moon showed us that we need to put in place some kind of plan, to discriminate and consider the right timing to get where we wanted to go and how we might get there.

Finally the Aquarius New Moon demands that we start to consider our vision again, to think about where we want to go and how this will impact those around us as well as how we can draw on our community and other resources such as friends to move further towards down our path of purpose and alignment. But perhaps this is still all a little premature for some of us – we are probably still dealing with the Scorpio moon’s unearthed.

Aquarius energy draws out the connection between groups, friends and community – as well as our own identity and how we fit in with those things around. It gets us to look at that with which we share a common cause. Perhaps we have been doing it alone for so long, we’ve perhaps even needed to, so we could gain a certain sense of something through that experience. We are coming to a point where that going it alone no longer feels viable. To move further into our own path of awakening we need to connect with others and share our journey, our woes and our learning. This allows us to feel connected again. If we resist this time of connecting, we might be forfeiting a lot of renewing energy that can carry us into this year – with new connections being a main theme.

From January to March we have an intense pattern that needs putting into some perspective. It’s always good to see the larger picture with long-term transits otherwise there’s a sense of the never-ending story. For the whole of January through to March we have Pluto squaring the nodes and Uranus conjunct the south node. Since Uranus is the ruler of this Aquarius new moon (it rules Aquarius) then we especially need to look at this configuration to learn more about what we can expect. Uranus conjuncts the South Node while also in a tight square to Pluto.

This Uranus conjunction to the South Node marks the end of a cycle and with Pluto making it’s square, points to very tense, forced turning points. The South Node in Aries is related to letting go of whatever is past its due date in your life, seeing the past differently, even seeing our entire journey from a different perspective and being prepared to make compromises and work differently with others. This doesn’t mean letting go of our warrior attitude though, more that we need to expand our idea of ‘self’ to encompass others. For many of us who are personally touched by these planets, big changes are already afoot in how we relate to others, to ourselves and how we swing between these two and get them fluid.

It’s much easier to ride the wave here than pull back. Call upon your spiritual helpers, work with the Lords of Karma (they are great for releasing old patterns) to release old relationship pain and patterns. You simply can’t fight the powerful evolutionary pull any other way, the old ways of separation, of me first attitude wants to give way to connection with all life, period. There’s no guarantee that if you go with what you need to do that there’ll be no suffering. We are in the midst of huge disconnection from that which doesn’t sustain us at the deepest level so we are bound to feel like our lives are either going backward or topsy turvy. But your interpretation and meaning of your circumstances matters and you can choose to see things from a less black and white perspective. Black and white tends to promote separation while grey tends to leave more open up our awareness, if we work mindfully. Reach out and work with that which you know has needed your attention for ages. Do the thing you’ve forbidden or convinced yourself you couldn’t do.   Face your fears and look earnestly and honestly at them.

Our experience will be different if we surrender and trust in an unconditionally loving universe, while at the same time remembering that the Nodes are asking us to totally expand our idea about unconditional love. Sometimes the tough way is the most loving way, we just can’t see that at the time. This is not a time to do nothing at all, but neither is it a time to being everything either without our inner connection. We need to move from a place of inner connection when we do otherwise we will disconnect and drain ourselves further, which we can’t afford in these times.

Subtle, well-maneuvered choices and decisions will get you where your essence wants to go. When things mess up in a big way, you are simply out of alignment and connection. Our essence *generally* takes us down the path of least resistance and helps the right people and opportunities fall in our lap. But if our essence faces a mountain of background, ego, unconscious forces directing our lives then there’s a struggle on. Things are going to have to go and so expect some disintegration and welcome, even invite it. Knowing that in the end, these times will be worth it. This is also a good time to get acquainted with your past and ancestral lives as they will be rising up for clearing.
